Log Levels and Error Reporting

Contents

Errors

Although the TFM development staff strives at creating the best possible software, as with any computer application, an error may be encountered while running TFM. Errors may be caused by several mechanisms. These include computer hardware, Operating Systems, network malfunctions, and even improper data entry by the office staff. Although TFM can not be responsible for hardware, Operating System, or network errors, the application attempts to recover from errors wheneever possible. Sometimes recovery may not be possible. In this case, TFM provides a method whereby a snapshot of the TFM application can be generated and send to the TFM staff for analysis.

Log Levels

Internally, the TFM application logs information concerning the health of the running application. From the TFM Main Menu, there is a Help menu that contains an option titled Log Level. Selecting from this menu option determines how much information will be logged while TFM is running. The default setting is Error and typically does not need to be changed. If you are experiencing problems, the TFM support staff may instruct you to select another setting from this menu so that TFM will log additional information that may be useful to debug the problem.

Submitting an Error Report

Selecting the Troubleshooting Snapshot from the TFM Main Menu Help menu, will take a snapshot of your running TFM application and allow the specification of an output file to store the information in. This generated file can be sent to the TFM support staff for analysis. Refer to the TreFre Medical web site for details on where to send this report.
